Leia's bedroom[3] was the childhood bedroom of Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan, located on Alderaan in a high tower of the royal palace and was considered simple by royal standards.[2]

Layout[]

The room had a window seat with a view of the Alderaanian mountain Appenza Peak[4] and a balcony with a chipped stone from when Organa had gotten carried away with a mock sparring match as a child[5] The room also had a mantel where the princess kept her keepsake chest, that she stored several of her childhood mementos inside including a music box, that played the Alderaanian lullaby "Mirrorbright," and a baby blanket, made of gillendown.[2]

Organa's bed, an artifact of a grander age, was made from priceless Glee Anselm hardwoods and inlaid with curling lines of pure gold and silver with a silk coverlet. Even though,[4] by 3 BBY,[6] royalty "no longer wasted money on splendor like this", Organa still used the bed as her mother, Queen Breha Organa, said it was "silly" not to use a "perfectly good bed or tiara or palace."[4]

There was also vanity table, in the room, with brushes and combs, where Organa's attendant droid, WA-2V, would help her get ready, and a cabinet which stored several pieces of jewellery including a pair of silver cuff bracelets and a silver headband with a pearl charm Organa wore for her Day of Demand.[4]

Organa also kept a Wookiee doll in her room which had been gifted to her by her father, Viceroy Bail Organa. Bail had given her the doll after Organa had met a Wookiee for the first time at a state dinner. Organa came to view the doll as a guardian watching over her in her room.[7]

History[]

Shortly before her sixteen birthday, Organa's mother visited her in her room and placed the Rhindon Sword on her bed. The two then had an in depth discussion about love and duty, with her mother explaining the significance of the Rhindon Sword to them and their people, as well as telling Organa that, while she had many duties and obligations to uphold that she still had the freedom to choose and would one day get to choose her own spouse.[5]

In 3 BBY,[6] Organa say at her vanity table in her bedroom where WA-2V helped Organa get ready for her Day of Demand. After the ceremony was over, Organa returned to her room where she watched a thunderstorm from her window seat, she moved to her bed when WA-2V threatened to forcibly remove her, believing that Organa was in danger. After WA-2V had left, Organa returned to the window seat and opened the window, admiring the storm and looking at Appenza Peak.[4]

After learning of her parents involvement in a growing rebellion, Organa attempted to sleep in her room but found it difficult to sleep. Similarly, after Organa had returned from the moon Onoma, she attempted to fall asleep but found herself thinking about the assassination of Quarsh Panaka, which had just taken place, and the extremist actions of Saw Gerrera and his Partisans, who had killed him.[4]

A short while later, Organa was sitting at her vanity, while WA-2V was doing her hair to greet the guests for her parents dinner party, and realised that the dinner parties, that her parents had recently been excessively throwing, were in fact strategy sessions for their growing rebellion against the Galactic Empire. After having secretly watched her parents meeting, Organa returned to her room to brush her hair on the window seat, and think over what she'd seen, when her mother, Breha Organa, came in to talk with her. During the conversation, Breha commented that it did do a girl good to fall for a scoundrel every now and then.[4]

A few months later, WA-2V also helped dress Organa for her investment ceremony to become Crown Princess of Alderaan. The night before, Organa had given her Keepsake chest to her farther, Bail Organa, to show that she had outgrown her use for it,[4] with Bail handing it over to his distant cousin, Lord Mellowyn of Birren who kept it at the Great Hall of Birren.[2]

In 0 BBY, Organa's room in the palace, along with the rest of Alderaan, was destroyed by the Imperial battle station, the Death Star, under the orders of Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, while Organa was forced to watch as she was held back by Darth Vader, who had grabbed Organa by the shoulder.[8]

Legacy[]

As Organa was being escorted back to her cell, after being forced to watch Alderaan's destruction, her room was amongst the things she thought of that were now gone. Thinking that she would do anything to bring them back including trading herself.[9]

When Organa was at the shop Lost and Found, on the planet Banas, with Luke Skywalker,[7] between 1 ABY and 3 ABY,[10] she saw a Wookiee doll that reminded her of the one she used to keep in her room. While she and Skywalker were attempting to escape Banas, Organa told Skywalker the story behind the doll.[7]

In 4 ABY,[11] shortly after becoming engaged to Han Solo, Organa thought of the small things she lost due to the destruction of Alderaan, amongst over things, she thought about her balcony with the chipped stone and the sweetmallow cakes that used to be sent to her room in appeasement when she was too young to attend her parents formal functions.[5]
