- "I declare this session open. The floor recognizes the representative from Ithor."
- ―Chancellor Palpatine, opening the floor for debate on the hyperlane issue
The Lesser Plooriod Cluster was a Mid Rim Territories star cluster that contained the Urce sector. Ithorians charted a hyperspace route through the Urce sector, which was later also mapped by the Trade Federation megacorporation. In 28 BBY, the Ithorians sought to make the route public and brought the issue to the Republic Senate for debate, but the motion failed.
Description[]
The Lesser Plooriod Cluster was a star cluster[3] in the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Trailing Sectors.[2] It contained the Urce sector[3] and shared its name with the Plooriod Cluster.[4] The Urce sector comprised the Entuur, Fitca Prime, Pa'hir'al, and Urce systems, which were situated in grid squares L-6 and L-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]
History[]
The Trade Federation (emblem pictured) charted a part of a hyperspace route—which ran through the Lesser Plooriod Cluster—that had been previously mapped by Ithorians.
By the time of the Republic Era, a hyperspace route passing through the Urce sector was mapped and used by Ithorians from[3] the planet[5] Ithor and was later partially charted by the Trade Federation megacorporation.[3]
In 28 BBY,[6] the Ithorians sought to make the map of the hyperspace route public in a motion within the Senate of the Galactic Republic. Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine opened the Senate floor for debate, allowing a human senator and a Trade Federation delegate to argue with the Ithorian senator proposing the initiative. Senator Padmé Amidala voted in favor of the motion, musing that the Urce sector's inhabitants only held a claim to a part of the route, whereas the Ithorians had been using the route long before the Trade Federation mapped it. However, the motion ultimately failed after some debate.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
In the current canon, the Lesser Plooriod Cluster was mentioned in Queen's Shadow, a 2019 young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston and the first installment of Star Wars: Queen's Series.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Lesser Plooriod Cluster was first mentioned in the 1980 novel Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, written by Brian Daley as the third installment of the Star Wars: The Han Solo Adventures trilogy.[7] It then made its first full appearance in Star Wars: X-Wing Tour of Duty: Imperial Pursuit,[8] a June 1993 expansion to the video game Star Wars: X-Wing,[9] first released in February of the same year.[10]
