During the Galactic War, General Vander led a Republic force to the planet of Altair 9 in order to liberate the world. Following a ten-month long siege of the planets capital, Klemark, the world was finally freed from Imperial control through the help of the SpecForce unit Eclipse Squad, who infiltrated the city and deactivated its defenses.[4]
Aftermath[]
In the wake of the battle, all Imperial defenders were either killed or captured and food, as well as other aid, was subsequently provided to the long-suffering populace of Altair 9. General Vander would later speak to a small collection of journalists in the hours following this victory, saying "truly, this is a stunning victory that all Republic citizens can feel proud of!"[4]
The hard fought victory would however not last long, as the SpecForce Squad, which brought about the sudden victory, soon went unstable. A fight at Fort Klemark broke out and 200 Republic soldiers died as a result, after which Eclipse Squad disappeared.[5]
