"The eight-base measure was developed by the Sumrias of the Lol system; members of the Sumrian thought-caste have four digits on each hand."
―An Imperial document included in a report by Major Arhul Hextrophon[src]

The Lol system was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Lol sector.[1] It was home to the Sumrias species. Since members of the Sumrian thought-caste had four-fingered hands, the species developed a base-eight measuring system that served as the basis for the development of Df, a parameter characterizing the combat performance of military artillery.[3]

Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the Lol system was mentioned by Rebel Alliance historian Major Arhul Hextrophon in a compilation of Imperial documents for Alliance Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.[3]

Behind the scenes

The Lol system was introduced in the Imperial Sourcebook, a 1989 supplement written by Greg Gorden for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed it in grid square Q-18.[2]
