The term "longblaster" denoted any model of blaster rifle with a long barrel for superior accuracy. Well-known models included the BlasTech Industries A-280, DC-15A blaster rifle, DLT-19, and DLT-20A models.

Longblasters with automatic selective firing settings could only attain rates of fire of about three shots per second, due to the sensitive energy accelerators located in the barrel. Rifles and carbines such as the infamous E-11 and DC-15S had shorter barrels designed for mobility and portability, with less sensitive accelerators.
