The Lothal garrison was installed on Lothal during its occupation by the Galactic Empire soon after the Clone Wars and the transformation of the Galactic Republic into the Empire.[30] It was later dissolved when Lothal was liberated by the Spectres.[22] The Lothal garrison was commanded primarily by Commandant Cumberlayne Aresko, who also took it upon himself to train new Imperial recruits at the Imperial Academy on Lothal along with Taskmaster Myles Grint.[7]

History[]

Following the arrival of the Imperial Complex on Lothal around 19 or 18 BBY,[31] the garrison protected, enforced and guarded the Galactic Empire's interests on Lothal during the Empire's occupation.[23] The huge[33] garrison's troops and officers harassed the Lothal civilians when they attempted to sell their wares,[17] bribe troopers,[34] or refused to sell their land to the Empire.[21] The garrison also maintained a Imperial Academy to train new recruits for the garrison.[8] The garrison came under attack by small group of rebels known as the Spectres.[17] The Spectres attacked airfields,[19] assaulted the garrison's troops[34] and stole supplies of food and blasters from them.[17]

  31. 31.0 31.1 In Adventures in Wild Space: The Steal, Ezra Bridger is an infant. Since Ezra was born on the first Empire Day, which according to Star Wars: Galactic Atlas is 19 BBY, the Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space series (the books of which take place in close proximity to each other) must be set around 18 BBY, during which Ryder Azadi was the Imperial Governor of the Lothal sector. Since the position was established after the occupation according to Nexus of Power and Dawn of Rebellion, along with the occupation occurring after the Proclamation of the New Order, then we can deduce that the occupation of Lothal occurs between 19 BBY and 18 BBY.
