- "I was already in discussions about something on—it wasn't The Mandalorian—something Star Wars-affiliated. It might have hurt me in some way, because then they couldn't hire me because it would seem to be pandering to…I'm just guessing here, I don't know anything, but in some ways, it can be unhelpful"
- ―Lucy Lawless
Lucy Lawless (born March 29, 1968 in Mount Albert, New Zealand) is a New Zealander actor. She[1] is best known for playing Xena in Xena: Warrior Princess, and for roles such as Number Three in Battlestar Galactica and Lucretia in Spartacus: Blood and Sand and its sequels.[3] Lawless voiced an Aeosian Queen in the animated television series Star Wars Resistance in "The New World"[4] and "No Place Safe,"[5] which both premiered on January 12, 2020.[6] Her casting in Resistance had been announced on August 14, 2019.[7]
By 2021, Lawless was under consideration for another Star Wars role. However, following fan support for her to replace the actor Gina Carano—who portrayed the New Republic marshal Cara Dune in the Star Wars television series The Mandalorian before being fired—Lawless felt she became too "political" of a choice and believed she may have lost her chance at working for the franchise as a result.[2]
