A leitmotif representing Luke Skywalker in exile appears in the 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Composed by John Williams, the leitmotif first appears as the "hesitance sarabande," representing Luke Skywalker's hesitance to join the fight against the First Order. The motif later sounds as a fanfare during a montage of the Jedi exile's life on Ahch-To.

Separated into to main parts with a pause, the first part shares the first notes of Ahsoka's Theme, while the second shares notes with the descending instrumental part of "Duel of the Fates." Most notably, the second part incorporates a part of "Rey's Theme." In the "The Rebellion Is Reborn" concert arrangement, the mystery motif underlays the Luke in exile motif.
