"They were on top of the food chain, the sea provided for them. But something changed. They're saying some word here I don't understand. The climate steadily worsened for them, the seas continued to rise, and unpredictable tides eliminated the small land they once farmed."
―Captain Phasma, to TN-3465 referring to a group of Lupr'or's time on Luprora[1]

Luprora was a planet located in the galaxy that had unstable environment conditions. The planet was the homeworld of the aquatic Tsw'ells and sentient R'ora species. Prior to the First Order-Resistance War, Luprora was settled by a humanoid species known as the Lupr'or. Following the Battle of Starkiller Base, Captain Phasma, TN-3465, and BB-K8 pursued the fugitive Lieutenant Sol Rivas to Luprora, whom Phasma framed for lowering Starkiller Base's shields. Phasma then killed Rivas and TN-3465, and destroyed BB-K8 in order to conceal the secret that she had destroyed Starkiller Base.

Description[]

Luprora was a rocky and oceanic world whose atmosphere was breathable for humans. By 34 ABY, rising sea levels had consumed much of the little arable farmland on the planet. Native fauna included the giant, tentacled monsters known as Tsw'ells and an unknown fish species.[1] The planet was home to an aquatic, tentacled sentient species known as the R'ora, who built primitive settlements.[2] In the centuries leading up to the the First Order-Resistance War, Luprora was colonized by a humanoid species called the Lupr'or.[1]

History[]

Early history[]

Many years before the Battle of Starkiller Base, the Lupr'or settled on Luprora after escaping their previous home, which had been spoiled by technology. Despising technology as evil, they destroyed most of their starships. The Lupr'or then adopted a primitive lifestyle based on fishing and farming. However, the climate deteriorated, causing the sea levels to rise and flood their farmlands. The Lupr'or also came under attack from the tentacled Tsw'ells and the aquatic R'ora, who adapted to the planet's rising sea levels.[2]

First Order entanglements[]

Following the destruction of Starkiller Base, Lieutenant Sol Rivas, who was being pursued by Captain Phasma, TN-3465 and BB-K8, landed on the planet after his TIE/fo space superiority fighter ran out of fuel. He was subsequently captured by the R'ora and taken to their stronghold. Whilst hunting for Rivas, Phasma and TN-3465 were attacked by a tsw'ells. After killing the creature, the two were taken by several Lupr'or to a village in which they resided. There, the village chief Jair'i recounted the history of the Lupr'or and revealed that Rivas had been[1]

After studying the R'ora stronghold and the tsw'ells–infested lake, Captain Phasma came up with a plan to attack the stronghold. Using generators salvaged from a Lupr'or starship, Phasma and her Lupr'or army electrocuted the tsw'ells inside the lake. They then rowed across the lake and assailed the R'ora stronghold.[2] While the Lupr'or fought the R'ora, Captain Phasma killed Lieutenant Rivas to prevent him from revealing that she was the one who had lowered Starkiller Base's shield. However, TN-3465 eavesdropped on their conversation.[3]

TN-3465 tried to conceal her knowledge of Phasma's secret by feigning concern for the Lupr'or. However, Phasma dismissed her former allies as unworthy of surviving the planet's evolution and opined that their intervention had merely hastened the Lupr'or's demise. Before leaving on their TIE/sf space superiority fighter, Phasma disintegrated BB-K8 and killed TN-3465 in order to eliminate any witnesses who knew of her malfeasance against the First Order. Phasma subsequently rejoined General Armitage Hux aboard the First Order fleet.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Luprora first appeared as a plot setting in Star Wars: Captain Phasma, a 2017 four-issue comic published by Marvel Comics as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi promotional material. The planet was created by Kelly Thompson, illustrated by Marco Checchetto, and colored by Andres Mossa.
