The planet was connected to the worlds of Tisht and Varl by the hyperlane called The Dead Road,[3] while the Elgit–M'Hanna Corridor linked M'Hanna to the planet of Sakifwanna.[2] M'Hanna was a world of black dust that was scoured by supersonic winds, and its history was the subject of various rumors and legends.[3]

M'Hanna was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book co-authored by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, which placed the planet in grid square T-11.[3]
