"Galen is somebody who we want to feel compassion for, but we're conflicted because he's working for the Empire. I think that's the beauty of having somebody like Mads. He's such an extraordinary actor, and you completely believe that his commitment is a moral commitment."
Kathleen Kennedy[src]

Mads Mikkelsen (born November 22, 1965) is a Danish actor who portrays Galen Walton Erso in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[1][2] He is known for his roles as Tristan in the 2004 historical action film King Arthur (with Joel Edgerton, Keira Knightley, and Ray Stevenson), as the main antagonist of the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale (with Daniel Craig), the Oscar-nominated film The Hunt, and the television series Hannibal. His likeness partially inspired that of Admiral Jhared Montferrat in the 2014 short story "Blade Squadron".[3] His elder brother, Lars Mikkelsen, also voices Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels.[4]
