The makorr were an aquatic predator species that lived in the galaxy. They fed on mollusk meat. During the Imperial Era, Captain Thrawn was able to track down a group of iridium smugglers by following several boats that had dumped a large quantity of mollusk meat, attracting a large number of makorrs. In a hurry to smuggle the iridium offworld in the mollusk shells, the smugglers had dumped the meat instead of taking the trouble to disperse the meat over their entire path.[1]
