Padmé Amidala drinking from a glass laced with manax-root poison
Manax-root poison was a lethal substance used for assassination.
History[]
During a trip to Cato Neimoidia, Neimoidian Lott Dod poisoned Senator Padmé Amidala with manax-root poison in an attempt to blackmail Baron Rush Clovis, who was in love with her, into cooperating with his wishes. The poison had an antidote that was administered by injection.
The poison itself was slow acting, as expected in that instance, taking Senator Padmé Amidala a full meal to start showing minor symptoms of headaches and tiredness and a few moments of wandering around to take the full effect of the poison knocking her into unconsciousness, the situation leads to believe that if not treated the poison would kill her in a few minutes or hours.
Once treated with the antidote Padme made a full recovery without any leftover symptoms.
