An Imperial starfighter base[2] was located underground on the planet Mandalore and was the headquarters and base of operations of Moff Gideon and his Imperial remnant. Built inside a large cavern with an open entrance on the surface, the base had multiple hanger bays that held TIE/IN interceptors and TIE/sa bombers as well as landing pads that had TIE/ln space superiority starfighters docked on them. The base also had a command center used by Moff Gideon, a debriefing room and a cloning laboratory where the Force-sensitive clones needed for Gideon's army were produced and stored. Both the command center and the cloning laboratory could be accessed by a corridor that was blocked by four shield barriers. The base was guarded by Imperial armored commandos and operated by droids such as R-series astromech droids, power droids and MSE-6 series repair droids.[3][4]
After being extracted from New Republic custody, Moff Gideon returned to the base. Gideon was present in the base during a meeting with the Shadow Council, in which he discussed his concerns and plans to be rid of the Mandalorians.[3]
After Mandalorians returned to the planet with the goal of retaking their homeworld, they were ambushed and lured into the Imperial base by Imperial armored commandos. Gideon launched TIE interceptors and bombers which were stationed in the base. Din Djarin was captured by Gideon, though the other Mandalorians were able to escape due to the sacrifice of Paz Vizsla.[3]
The Imperial base was later assaulted by the remainder of the Mandalorians, inflicting heavy casualties upon the Imperials, before Axe Woves rammed their captured light cruiser into the base, destroying it.[4]
