The Mandalorian Trat'ade was a coalition of Mandalorian clans that emerged in the aftermath of the Eternal Empire's conquest of the galaxy. Following the death of Mandalore the Vindicated, the surviving clans rallied under the leadership of Shae Vizla, who assumed the title "Mandalore the Avenger." Under her command, the Trat'ade aligned with the Eternal Alliance, contributing their martial prowess to the galaxy's recovery efforts after the war against Zakuul.

In the wake of the Eternal Empire's devastating campaign, the Mandalorian clans found themselves fragmented and leaderless. Recognizing the need for unity, Shae Vizla stepped forward to lead, earning the title "Mandalore the Avenger." Under her leadership, she formed a new coalition[1] known as the Mandalorian Trat'ade—with trat'ade meaning "forces"[6] in the Mandalorian language of Mando'a.[7] Her leadership marked the first significant victory for the Mandalorians in six months, reinvigorating their fighting spirit and consolidating their strength under the Trat'ade banner.[1]

The Trat'ade quickly became the dominant Mandalorian faction, integrating advanced technologies and strategies to bolster their capabilities. Their alliance with the Eternal Alliance further solidified their position as a formidable force in the galaxy.[1]

War against Zakuul[]

In 3630 BBY,[8] the Mandalorian Trat'ade played a pivotal role in the Raid on Darvannis, a strategic assault against the Eternal Empire. The objective was to capture the GEMINI Prime, the template for the Eternal Fleet's droid commanders. Mandalore the Avenger led the operation, with key figures such as Torian Cadera and Khomo Fett orchestrating ground assaults and sabotage missions. The successful capture of GEMINI Prime marked a significant turning point in the war, bolstering the Alliance's capabilities against the Eternal Empire.[1]

The Trat'ade's commitment to the Eternal Alliance was further demonstrated during the Invasion of Voss. When Empress Vaylin launched an assault on the planet, seeking her mother Senya Tirall, the Mandalorians, under the command of Torian Cadera, were instrumental in repelling the attack. Collaborating with Alliance forces, they defended key locations, including the capital city of Voss-Ka and the Shrine of Healing, ensuring the safety of the Voss people and the preservation of their culture.[9]

Civil war erupts[]

Despite their successes, tensions within the Trat'ade began to surface. Mandalore the Avenger's decisions, including the slighting of clans like Clan Ha'rangir and the exile of others, led to dissent among the ranks. This discontent gave rise to the Hidden Chain, a faction led by Field Marshal Heta Kol, aiming to overthrow Shae's leadership and restore traditional Mandalorian values.[10]

The ideological divide between the Trat'ade and the Hidden Chain escalated into a full blown civil war, threatening the stability of the Mandalorian people and drawing the attention of external powers.[10]

Change of leadership[]

Concerned that the internal conflict would provoke intervention from the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Mandalore the Avenger made the difficult decision to abdicate her title. She transferred control of her forces to Jekiah Ordo, believing him to be instrumental in locating and confronting Heta Kol.[2]

In a controversial move, Shae Vizla liberated Darth Malgus from his prison, effectively severing ties with the Eternal Alliance and marking a significant turning point in Mandalorian politics.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The Mandalorian Trat'ade first appeared in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan. The coalition was later identified as the "Mandalorian Trat'ade" in the reputation track for the Ruhnuk daily area missions, introduced in Game Update 7.2: Showdown on Ruhnuk as part of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Legacy of the Sith, released on December 13, 2022.[6]
