The Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought,[2] also known as the Mandator-II Star Dreadnaught,[3] of the Mandator line[2] was designed by Kuat Drive Yards.[1] The mighty Star Dreadnought was much larger than a Venator-class Star Destroyer, although the ships of the latter class were far more numerous and extensively used by the Galactic Republic Navy during the Clone Wars.[2] Over 1,000 Recusant-class light destroyers were needed to challenge a Mandator II-class vessel.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
In the current Star Wars canon, the Mandator-II Star Dreadnaught was introduced in the reference book Star Wars: Complete Vehicles, published in 2018. The material mentioning the ship was reprinted[3] from the 2005 reference book Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections by Curtis Saxton, which also marked the starship's introduction in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[4] It was identified as the Mandator II-class battleship in the Spanish[5] and French versions of "Starships of the Empire and the Rebellion," the seventy-ninth encyclopedia of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series,[1] published on October 12, 2021[6] and October 28, 2021, respectively.[7] The name Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought was provided in the encyclopedia's English edition, released in 2022.[2]
