Mantooine was a planet in the Atrivis sector, on the Relgim Run. Despite their xenophobia, the natives were sympathetic to the Rebel Alliance.
History[]
Mantooine, along with Sestooine in the northern quadrant, was colonized during the onset of the Kymoodon Era.[2] During its history, Mantooine was constantly at war with neighboring planet Fest.[4]
Soon before the Galactic Civil War, the local resistance group, known as the Mantooine Liberators, assaulted successfully and captured the Imperial garrison base. However, Mantooine was immediately attacked in retaliation by an Imperial strike fleet from the Fest system. For complex historical reasons, the Mantooine Liberators were not in contact with the Fest Resistance Group and the people of Fest was not able to warn Mantooine before the Liberators were decimated. Ultimately, this event led the two planets found common cause in their conflict with the Empire, and the combination of the Mantooine Liberators with the Fest Resistance Group formed the Atrivis Resistance Group. They would later join the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[4]
After the Battle of Yavin, the Alliance Special Forces destroyed the Imperial orbital base above Mantooine during Operation Cobolt.[3]
The New Republic later named a ship after the world.[5]
The Mantooine Minuet was presumably from the world, as was Brandei.
