Manumission was the act of freeing a droid from service, allowing it to fend for itself. K-OHN was a manumitted L-1 tactical droid who offered his programming skills for money or spare parts on Jedha.[2] The GNK-series power droid 4B-EG-6 was another such droid who was freed by the Resistance.[3] The astromech R6-LE5 did not belong to any master and defined her service in the Resistance as voluntary.[4]
