- "Nothing wrong with a little order, right?"
- ―Freck, on Mapuzo's occupation
Mapuzo was a Galactic Empire–controlled mining planet located in the Mid Rim Territories. The planet was once lush and full of life, but had been rendered a wasteland due to the Empire's mining activity.[1] After rescuing Princess Leia Organa,[2] Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi was able to escape the planet Daiyu by hiding on a transport that was traveling to Mapuzo.[1]
The Empire's Inquisitorius was able to track Kenobi to Mapuzo. Three of their number—the Fifth Brother, the Third Sister, and the Fourth Sister, accompanied by Sith Lord Darth Vader—traveled to the planet in search of Kenobi.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Mapuzo was first pictured in the new Star Wars Canon in the teaser trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, a 2022 Disney+ television series. It was first mentioned in "Part II" of the series,[2] which aired on May 26, 2022.[3] It first appeared in the third episode of the series, which was released on June 1, 2022.[4] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Mapuzo system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[5]
