"I served six years in Tempest Force, rising to sergeant. We were one of the finest legions in the New Order. Saw action at Kashyyyk, Marcelan Prime, Sarko, Aurimaus, and a lot of places you never heard of."
―Hume Tarl, excerpt from interview with Cindel Towani included in Portraits of the Galactic Civil War[2]

Marcelan Prime was a celestial body[2] located in the Wild Space star system of the same name.[1] During the Galactic Civil War, the Tempest Force unit of the Galactic Empire's armed forces, which included[2] the stormtrooper[3] Hume Tarl, participated in a military operation at Marcelan Prime.[2]

When[2] the journalist[4] Cindel Towani later interviewed Tarl about the Battle of Endor of 4 ABY, the latter mentioned the operation at Marcelan Prime as one of the engagements the Tempest Force had been involved in. In 41 ABY, Towani included the interview in her work Portraits of the Galactic Civil War.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

"[Tarl has] served in battles that are a mix of existing locations and new ones, which ensures the galaxy feels big."
―Jason Fry[5]

Marcelan Prime was mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[2] In his personal blog, Fry later noted that the locations that were new to the Star Wars franchise, such as Marcelan Prime, were introduced in the section of the book containing the interview with Hume Tarl in order to make the Star Wars galaxy seem large.[5] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Marcelan Prime system, and therefore Marcelan Prime itself, in grid square J-5.[1]
