Maria Monique D'Aragon, also known as Maria De Aragon, (December 26, 1942 – April 30, 2024) was a Canadian[1] actress who portrayed Greedo in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope for a number of close-in pickup shots.
During the production of A New Hope, the mechanism to move Greedo's mouth broke just before he needed to be shot. De Aragon was then asked to put a clothespin between her teeth to move Greedo's mouth, making Greedo come to life. De Aragon claims that George Lucas practically saved her life when he saw her making odd gestures to signal that she couldn't breathe in the mask.[3]
