For other uses, see Marleyvane (disambiguation).

The Marleyvane system was a part of the Tharin sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was situated on the Triellus Trade Route hyperlane,[4] which connected it to the Dennogra, Junkfort,[3] and Moog Mot systems.[4] Shortly before the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the Marleyvane system contained a Class IB Galactic Empire military shipyard, the output of which was limited to cruisers.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

"Marleyvane is intended as a check on Mon Cal Space, plus I liked the idea of a Dickensian name for a posting way out in the middle of the lawless Outer Rim."
―Jason Fry[src]

The Marleyvane system was first mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[3] Fry later commented that the name "Marleyvane," which to him evoked[5] the writings of Charles Dickens,[6] seemed appropriate for an Imperial posting in a "lawless" area of the Outer Rim Territories. In addition, the author noted that the Imperial shipyard in the system was intended to serve as a check on Mon Calamari Space,[5] a nearby region of independent, anti-Imperial shipbuilders.[3] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas later placed the Marleyvane system in grid square T-8.[1]
