Martin has worked on many projects, including Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars: The High Republic, and many more.

Biography[]

Early Lucasfilm career[]

Martin began his career at Lucasfilm in September 2007 as Lead Buyer/Product Developer – E-Commerce. In that position, Matt managed the exclusive products program, as well as buying and merchandising of licensed products for Lucasfilm's official online stores for Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Additionally, he oversaw every stage of product development, starting from idea generation to concept development, through production, and into product launch and marketing.[1]

Manager and Sr. Executive[]

In August 2011, Martin moved to Manager, Digital Content and Community Relations. There, Martin led and managed strategy of creative content across all of Lucasfilm's digital media platforms including StarWars.com, the Star Wars App, and all Star Wars social media channels. He managed a team of writers, video producers, designers, and a cadre of external contributors to publish creative content across different forms of media. This included video, editorial, audio, in-depth encyclopedia entries, and experimental platforms. The content was curated to be story accurate and relevant to the audience, all while produced according to brand standards. By this time, he was a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group and is responsible for story development and overseeing the adherence to creative direction and narrative continuity across the Star Wars franchise in various media.[1] When he was still a member of the Group, Ashley Eckstein worked with Martin while she was creating the Star Wars Mindful Matters series[3] to ensure authenticity and to make sure all of the episodes were accurate from a Star Wars story perspective.[4] In January 2016, Martin transitioned to Sr. Creative Executive, Franchise Story and Content. In this role, Martin serves as the lead franchise story development executive on Disney Parks and Resorts, ILM Immersive, publishing, and digital media, as well as development executive on video games, animation, and more.[1]

As Sr. Creative Executive, Martin was involved in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars: Squadrons, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series, Star Wars: Project Porg, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Visions, Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, and the multi-platform storytelling initiative Star Wars: The High Republic. Martin was also involved in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from Respawn Entertainment, Star Wars Outlaws from Ubisoft, and an upcoming Indiana Jones title from Bethesda Video Games.[1] Additionally, Martin is credited as a Creative Executive for The Book of Boba Fett[5] and Obi-Wan Kenobi.[6]

Mart Mattin[]

In the third season of Star Wars Rebels, Martin's likeness was adopted for a new character, Mart Mattin, whose name is a tuckerization of Martin's name.[7]
