Max's Flangth House[1] was a restaurant that was opened by the Ortolan Max Rebo on[2] the planet[3] Coruscant shortly after[1] 4 ABY's[4] Battle of Endor.[1] The restaurant was extremely successful and went on to become a chain[5] with franchises established on seven other planets.[1] Rebo became very rich through the flanth-house's success, and he relocated to Coruscant to enjoy a retirement in lavish surroundings and a lot of food.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Max's Flangth House made its first appearance, albeit unnamed, in "Epilogue: Whatever Became Of...?," a short story written by Kevin J. Anderson and published in the 1995 Tales from Jabba's Palace anthology.[3] The restaurant was first named "Max's Flanth House" in "Who's Who in the Max Rebo Band," an article Rich Handley wrote for the sixty-seventh issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine,[2] which was published on April 15, 2003.[6] In 2008, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia went on to identify the restaurant as "Max's Flangth House," which is the spelling used for this article.[1]

Max Rebo's entry in the original StarWars.com Databank[5] and in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia state the restaurant was opened after the Galactic Civil War.[7] The restaurant's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia entry clarifies that it was opened shortly after the Battle of Endor,[1] which 2005's The New Essential Chronology dates to 4 ABY and before the Galactic Civil War's end.[4] This article treats the restaurant's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia entry as correct with regard to the time period.
