The mechanized assault flyer was an aerial vehicle that predated the HMP droid gunship,[1] which saw its debut with the Confederacy of Independent Systems in 20 BBY[2] during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic. Operated by a crew, the assault flyer was similar in shape and size to the droid gunship, and consisted of a large, heavily armored, saucer-shaped body.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The mechanized assault flyer was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Collapse of the Republic, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] The Mechanized Assault Flyer originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the 2004 video game Star Wars: Battlefront, developed by Pandemic Studios and released by LucasArts.[3]
