The MedStar-class frigate was a class of medical frigate used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Injured clone troopers requiring long-term care would be transferred from Republic Mobile Surgical Units to larger medical facilities including MedStar-class frigates.[1]
Behind the scenes
MedStar-class frigates were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars roleplaying products.[1] They were originally created for the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared in the 2004 novel MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, which was written by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry.[2]
