"The sea has some large areas of polymetallic nodules in the active hydrothermal vents. The vents create deposits that contain ores like doonium, meleenium, dolovite, kammris."
―a Turlin/Benthic employee to Has Obitt[src]

Meleenium was a metallic ore found in polymetallic nodules in the seas of the Western Reaches planet of Wadi Raffa. The active hydrothermal vents in the sea created deposits of meleenium and other ores, including doonium, dolovite, and kammris. The mining company Turlin/Benthic Extraction used hydraulic pumps to bring the ores to the surface for processing.[1] Meleenium was among the profitable cargoes recommended to fellow smugglers by Platt Okeefe in the pirate Maz Kanata's Smuggler's Guide, along with durelium, hyperbarides, and Corusca stones[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

Meleenium was first mentioned in the 2016 canon novel Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel, written by James Luceno.[1]
