- "That's Meliccan wool, some of the best you can buy. The Melicca shear themselves as a sign of submission to their deities only once every seven years, you know. That's why the fibers are so rare."
- ―A Zygerrian shopkeeper, to Nan Hague

The Melicca were a group that existed during the High Republic Era that worshipped a number of deities. As a sign of submission to their deities, once every seven years, the Melicca sheared themselves, creating Meliccan wool.[1]
In 228 BBY,[2] the human Nihil intelligence operative Nan Hague traveled to[1] the Core Worlds[3] planet Coruscant for a mission. While there, she visited a luxury shop run by a Zygerrian shopkeeper in an attempt to draw attention away from herself. The Zygerrian presented Hague with a woolen shawl that was made of Meliccan wool, and informed her it was among the best she could buy. She then told Hague about the Melicca, noting that as a result of the Melicca only shearing themselves once every seven years the fibers were very rare. Hague ultimately purchased the shawl.[1]
Behind the scenes[]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 16, which features the Stormwall going down, takes place one year and a few months after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. The events of The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless also take place in 228 BBY per the reasoning here. As The High Republic: Into the Light states its events occur after the events of Tears of the Nameless and before the Stormwall goes down, they must also take place in that year.
