Melissa Scott is a writer who studied at Brandeis University, earning a PhD. in comparative history. In 1986 she won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and she has published over 30 novels, including licensed work with Star Trek and Stargate. Her first Star Wars work was the short story "Mercy Mission," which was published in The Rise of the Empire on October 6, 2015.[1]
