The Melitto were a species in the galaxy with heightened sensory capabilities.[1] In 3628 BBY,[2] before the start of a third Galactic War between the reconstituted Sith Empire and Galactic Republic, the Sith Lord and Dark Councilor Darth Malora used genetic engineering and Sith alchemy to create mutated Geonosians. Those Geonosians were developed from various species which included the Melitto, from which she took their sensory capabilities.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Melitto were first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends continuity in BioWare's 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic, specifically the[1] 2018[3] 5.10 Jedi Under Siege update to the 2016 Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion.[1] The Melitto first appeared in the September 2015 canon novel The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure, written by Jason Fry,[4] and were first identified as Melitto in the December 2015 canon reference book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, written by Pablo Hidalgo.[5]
