Messert was a celestial body located in the Messert system, a part of the Kashyyyk Region's Mytaranor sector in the Slice portion of the Mid Rim. The hyperlane known as the Randon Run linked it to the Chamble and Randon systems. Messert was a financial hub of the sector, and loans from it financed several mining, industrial, and agricultural ventures in the Kashyyyk Region.[1] The astronomical object shared its name with the offworld company Messert Mines Corporation.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The name "Messert" was introduced in the form of a mention of the Messert Mines Corporation in the 1991 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Planets of the Galaxy, Volume One.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, was the first source to describe Messert as a celestial body and placed it in grid square Q-10.[1]
