Michael Culver (June 16, 1938February 27, 2024)[1] was a British actor who portrayed Captain Lorth Needa in The Empire Strikes Back. His on-screen roles outside the franchise included an appearance in the first episode of the acclaimed crime drama Wallander alongside fellow Imperial actor Malcolm Tierney, as well as two uncredited appearances in the Bond films From Russia With Love and Thunderball.

Culver was more prolific as a stage actor, first appearing in several roles with the Dundee Repertory Theatre in 1959 (performing in thirty-five different plays within a two year span) before progressing to the illustrious Old Vic, where many other Star Wars actors have also appeared; John Boyega, James Earl Jones, Indira Varma, Daniel Mays and fellow Imperial Michael Pennington are others who have also worked with the company.

In addition, Culver also narrated several documentaries and has written poetry. He appeared at a number of Star Wars conventions.
