A mineral was a compound that occurred naturally to form an ore-like substance. Rockrenders of the planet Sullust consumed minerals as a part of their diet. The ice planet of Starkiller Base was rich in minerals. Yavin 4 possessed no known mineral resources of significance, making it undesirable to the Galactic Empire.
