Minetroopers, also known as tunneling underminers, were specialized stormtroopers specifically trained for operating in mining environments. Minetroopers were deployed as security to the spice mines of Sevarcos II and Kessel's mines.
Equipment[]
The minetroopers wore special tan-colored armor, with a thicker bodysuit, that was sealed from the noxious spice-laden air. Their primary assignment was not necessarily to stop rampaging spice eels or suppress revolts by the incarcerated spice miners, but rather to protect the mining equipment from damage and theft.[1]
Spice was normally mined by slave labor during the reign of the Galactic Empire. The slaves were owned by spice lords and trading crime syndicates. When the Empire gained control of the spice mines, minetroopers were stationed on Kessel and Sevarcos II to make sure that the spice routes ran smoothly, and that any trouble makers were swiftly dealt with.[1]
The minetroopers' utility belts were very similar to regular stormtrooper utility belts, they contained rations, ammunition, grappling hooks, one Baradium-core code key thermal detonator, compact tool-kit, and a holster for their E-11 blaster rifle.[1]
