The Mining Worlds referred to four planets—all located in the Anoat sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories—that were known for their abundance of mineral resources. Burnin Konn was considered to be a Mining World, though centuries-long mining operations to harvest its chromium and dolovite destroyed the planet's indigenous plant life and created a nearly uninhabitable wasteland.[1] During the Iron Blockade, which was established by a remnant of the Galactic Empire in an attempt to prevent news of their crushing defeat by the Alliance to Restore the Republic at the Battle of Endor from reaching the Anoat sector's populace, the Imperials locked down the Mining Worlds, capturing every transport that attempted to pass through the blockade.[2]
The Smuggler sent several members of their crew to liberate the ships and their cargo from the Empire.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The Mining Worlds were originally created for the Star Wars Legends web article "Galactic Gazetteer: Hoth and the Greater Javin," which was written by Jason Fry, Daniel Wallace and Craig Robert Carey for Wizards of the Coast and released in 2004.[3] They became canon when they appeared in the mobile game Star Wars: Uprising, which was developed by Kabam for iOS and Android platforms and released in 2015.[1]
