- "Your orders are to go to Bela Vistal and listen in on a meeting of Imperial officers. With luck, they'll let slip the location of some starships the Empire has taken from us."
- ―Wedge Antilles, to a Rebel spacer
A mission was carried out by the Rebel Alliance near the city of Bela Vistal on the planet Corellia during the Galactic Civil War.
Prelude[]
- "...and they'll be safe there. Think of it! We'll use those X-Wings in various illegal activities. Public opinion of the Rebel Alliance will plummet."
- ―An Imperial officer
After the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire had confiscated several Rebel T-65 X-wing starfighters and stored them in an Imperial Base in the Dregan's Pike mountain. The Empire hoped to use these X-Wings for illicit purposes, in an attempt to turn public opinion against the Rebel Alliance.[3]
The mission[]
- "I'm receiving word that we managed to recover almost 85% of the starships and even some starship parts."
- ―Wedge Antilles, to a Rebel spacer
In order to retrieve the stolen X-wing starfighters, Rebel Officer Wedge Antilles dispatched Rebel spacers to eavesdrop on Imperial officers in Bela Vistal. The Rebel operatives overheard two Imperial officers discussing their plan against the Rebellion. To pave the way for disrupting the Imperial project and recover the starfighters, a group of Rebel operatives set off towards the base.[3]
The Rebels spacers attacked the Imperial base and eliminated a number of stormtrooper guards. They also destroyed three security terminals that controlled the automated defenses of the base. With the Imperial base defenseless, a Rebel recovery team sent by Antilles eventually managed to recover 85% of the stolen starships.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The mission to Bela Vistal was a quest in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[3] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] The quest was added to the game with the revamped "Rebel Theme Park", released with the update dubbed "Chapter 6," on May 22, 2007.[6]

- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
