"I sense… a place I've been to before… waterfalls… Naboo."
―Anakin Skywalker, sensing Cad Bane will go to Naboo — (audio) Listen (file info)[src]

Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker underwent a mission in 22 BBY to stop bounty hunter Cad Bane from kidnapping potential Force-sensitive younglings. Given the task of departing to Naboo by Jedi Masters Yoda, Mace Windu, and Obi-Wan Kenobi; Skywalker left with his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and rendezvous with Captain Gregar Typho and Gungan Captain Lunker inside the Theed Palace hangar. While the two Jedi arrived before Bane did, the bounty hunter; however, landed near Jan-gwa city onboard his personal starfighter, the Xanadu Blood.

Before Bane could kidnap the young Gungan infant, Roo-Roo Page, Tano emerged and fought the bounty hunter for a brief time. Attempting to evactute the city with his jetpack-equipped boots, Skywalker caught him, and soon he was placed with binders. Both Skywalker and Tano took Bane to the Venator-class Star Destroyer, Resolute, where he was tortured until he revealed the location of the stolen holocron and Kyber memory crystal.

Prelude

"I have delivered what you wanted; the Jedi were no problem. Anything else I can help you with?"
"I need test subjects. Four small children and bring them to Mustafar. I will take care of them."
"Kidnapping innocent children? Seems like a small-time crime for the likes of you."
"Among the children of the Jedi, there are no innocents."
"Sure, sure. As long as I get paid, it makes no difference to me."
―Cad Bane and Sidious, discussing Bane's next mission — (audio) Listen (file info)[src]
Cad Bane holocron

Cad Bane steals a holocron from the Jedi Temple

In 22 BBY,[4] the bounty hunter Cad Bane successfully stole a holocron, which contained information about the location of Force-sensitive children in the galaxy. After Bane's success in obtaining the Kyber memory crystal at Devaron, Bane retreated to his station, located in the Outer Rim. The bounty hunter contacted the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, and told him that he retrieved both the holocron and crystal for him. Offering to help the Dark Lord once more, Bane asked the latter if he needed something else to be "taken care of." Agreeing to Bane's wish, Sidious gave Bane a new mission: capture a total of four Force-sensitive infants, that are listed in the holocron, and deliver them to the remote planet of Mustafar. The Dark Lord planned to use them as test subjects in his experiments for the alteration of Force-sensitives to build his own personal corps of spies.[1]

On Coruscant, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker meditated, along with Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, and Yoda. Through the Force, Skywalker saw a vision of Bane on Naboo. As Kenobi, Windu, and Yoda sensed that Bane was after other children as well, they departed and began their separate missions to stop Bane. While Kenobi left for Rodia, Skywalker, along with his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, traveled to Naboo, where they were greeted by Captain Gregar Typho of the Royal Naboo Security Forces. The captain introduced the two Jedi to Lunker, a Gungan captain in charge of the operation of stopping Bane. Tano told Skywalker that she should go with the Gungan, and Skywalker agreed. While Tano and Lunker proceeded to the Jan-gwa city, Skywalker promised to follow them shortly.[1]

The mission

"Don't move, sleemo!"
"You weren't the child I was expecting to find."
"Obviously."
"You're quite clever, but naive."
―Cad Bane, before engaging Ahsoka Tano in a duel — (audio) Listen (file info)[src]
Bane captured

Bane is taken prisoner on Naboo

Landing near the city of Jan-gwa city, Bane left his personal starfighter,[1] the Xanadu Blood,[5] and headed toward the above ground Gungan city. On his list, the bounty hunter was after a female infant Gungan named Roo-Roo Page, who was with her mother. After Bane entered the city, he soon arrived to his destination, and spotted the Gungan mother leaving an infant cradle. As the mother left the room, the bounty hunter approached it, and noticed a sheet covering something small underneath. Upon lifting the sheet,[1] a toy tooka doll was exposed,[5] with Page not found in the cradle. Behind Bane, Tano emerged from behind a blast door. Knowing that the Togruta Padawan hid the child from him, the Duros bounty hunter engaged her in a duel. Using his whipcord launcher, that was activated through his wrist gaunlet, Bane grabbed the Padawan's lightsaber from her grasp. Retrieving one of his LL-30 blaster pistols, the bounty hunter began to shoot at Tano, although the unarmed Tano dodged Bane's blaster fire, and hid behind some furniture. However, as she attempted to retrieve her fallen lightsaber, Bane evacuated the room using his jetpack-equipped boots. Before Bane could escape the city, Skywalker appeared on top of a roof, and grabbed onto Bane's boots. With the extra weight, Bane's boosters were disabled, and as the two tumbled onto a roof below, the hunter's hat was knocked off. The pair struggled before landing on the ground, and the outmatched Bane looked up to see Tano's ignited lightsaber pointing at his face.[1]

Aftermath

"We know you've taken at least two children; were are they?"
"Beyond your reach."
"Who are you working for?"
"I work alone."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu, interrogate Cad Bane after his capture on Naboo — (audio) Listen (file info)[src]

Upon capturing Bane, Tano placed the bounty hunter in binders. The Padawan noticed a familiar item, which was clipped on Bane's belt, and took it from him. Knowing that Bane might not be a threat to Page, Tano told the mother of the infant Gungan that her daughter was safe; however, her statement caused Bane to release his anger at her. Although, Skywalker began to push Bane out the room. Taking Bane captive,[1] the two Jedi sent the Duros to Skywalker's flagship, the Venator-class Star Destroyer, Resolute.[5] After Kenobi failed to stop Bane on Rodia—prior to Bane's arrival on Naboo—he joined Skywalker, Tano, and Windu on the detention block inside the Star Destroyer.[1]

Mind-trick combined

Windu, Kenobi and Skywalker interrogate Bane with the Force.

Skywalker and Tano remained outside the ray shielded room, while Kenobi and Windu interrogated the headstrong bounty hunter. After the two Jedi Masters couldn't force Bane to reveal the location of the children and holocron, they subsided and returned to Skywalker. After Tano suggested the use of a "three-way" mind trick, the Jedi reentered the room and began to torture Bane through the Force. The Duros gave in, and soon agreed to take Kenobi and Windu to the location of the holocron, while Skywalker and Tano remain on the Resolute, and scan through Bane's captured starfighter.[1]
