During the First Order's occupation of the Colossus refueling station on Castilon, Resistance member and spy Kazuda Xiono launched a mission to deactivate the First Order communication jammer on top of Doza Tower so he and his allies could contact the Resistance.[3]
Prelude[]
Shortly before the Attack on Tuanul, Resistance pilots Poe Dameron and Kazuda Xiono undertook a mission to investigate First Order activity in the Dassal system. There, they discovered the First Order had cored through several planets and destroyed the system's sun. In the process, the two were pursued by First Order forces under Major Elrik Vonreg.[5]
Despite escaping back to the Colossus, Kaz was tracked down by Major Vonreg who was able to identify his starship Fireball using visual footage. In response, Commander Pyre ordered the arrest of Team Fireball.[3] Kaz, who had returned from helping Hype Fazon, Aunt Z, Nod, and Grevel escape offworld, returned to find his friends being detained by Commander Pyre and his stormtroopers.[1]
The mission[]
On the run[]
With the help of Bucket, Yeager, Kaz, Neeku Vozo, and CB-23 managed to escape Yeager's repair station. During the shooting, Bucket was shot by Commander Pyre and fell overboard. However, Tamara Ryvora, who was sympathetic to the First Order, allowed herself to be arrested, believing the situation to be a misunderstanding. Captain Imanuel Doza, the ruler of the Colossus, objected to the raid on Yeager's repairs but was ignored by Commander Pyre. Pyre requested the assistance of First Order Security Bureau Agent Tierny in order to interrogate Tam.[3]
While navigating through the underlevel tunnels, Yeager and his team were pursued by stormtroopers. The four were eventually cornered above a trap door. Before the First Order could take them into custody, the trap door opened. Yeager, Kaz, Neeku, and CB-23 were picked up by Kel, Eila, and the Chelidae, who inhabited the engineering deck. They were also reunited with Bucket, who had been caught in the Chelidae's nets.[3]
Regrouping and counter-offensive[]
After regrouping, Kaz resolved to send a message to the Resistance requesting help, free Tam, and expel the First Order from the Colossus. Meanwhile, Agent Tierny managed to exploit Tam's sympathies for the First Order by claiming that the First Order stood for peace and order. She also revealed that Kaz was a Resistance spy, seeking to sow wedge between Tam and her friends.[3]
Back in the engineering deck, Kaz came up with a plan to disable the First Order's jammer on Doza Tower by sinking the Colossus beneath the ocean. Though Yeager and Neeku thought that Kaz's plan was crazy, they complied since there were no alternatives. Yeager sent CB-23 to send inform Captain Doza, who was sympathetic to the New Republic, and arranged with him to close the hatches so that the station would not be flooded.[3]
Into the deep[]
Proceeding with their plan, Neeku decreased the ballast and increased the downward thrust while Yeager shut down the turbines. As the Colossus descended beneath the sea, Captain Doza ordered the citizens to evacuate to their homes and sealed the main hatches. After the station had sunk, Kaz, Yeager, and CB-23 swam up the sea and climbed onto Doza Tower. They disabled the jammer and Kaz got CB-23 to send a transmission to Resistance leader General Leia Organa.[3]
Kaz managed to send a message to General Organa informing her of the situation on the Colossus and appealing for help. Shortly later, Commander Pyre exited the hatch with several stormtroopers. By then, he and Agent Tierny had deduced that the sinking of the Colossus was a deliberate attempt to disrupt their search for the fugitives. Following a struggle, Kaz and CB-23 managed to escape but Yeager was captured.[3]
Aftermath[]
Kaz's transmission reached General Organa, who apologized that the Resistance was unable to send reinforcements but transmitted the coordinates of their new base. She also reassured Kaz that he was not alone and that the Force was with him. Despite by the odds against them, Kaz, Neeku, CB-23, Kel, Eila, and the Chelidae formed the Colossus resistance cell.[3]
Kaz's transmission also reached Kragan Gorr's Warbird pirates. Synara San, whom Kaz had befriended and help to escape earlier, received the message.[3] Having completed his mission to contact the Resistance, Kaz embarked on a mission to rescue Tam and Yeager. Meanwhile, Commander Pyre ordered Captain Doza's arrest for insubordination.[2]
