- "The Empire is in disarray. That's obvious by the sheer number of splinter factions—we aren't fighting one enemy, but several dozen. Some are isolated by happenstance: Moff Royen's fleet is cut off from support near the Red Hand Cluster."
- ―Caern Adan, to Hera Syndulla and Alphabet Squadron
Following the death of Emperor Palpatine at the Battle of Endor[1] in 4 ABY,[2] a fleet led by the Imperial Moff Royen found itself cut off from support near the Red Hand Cluster. Isolated coincidentally, the fleet became a de facto Imperial splinter faction. An agent in the New Republic's Intelligence branch named Caern Adan cited the isolation of Royan's fleet during a meeting with General Hera Syndulla and the New Republic's Alphabet Squadron.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Moff Royen's fleet was mentioned in the 2019 novel Alphabet Squadron, the initial volume in Alexander Freed's Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy.[1]
