The Mon Calamari Guard were the Mon Calamari monarch's personal troops, distinguished from other Mon Calamari troopers by the goggles they wore. They were commanded by Captain Gial Ackbar during the Clone Wars. Traditionally, the monarch fought with their troops, and the Battle of Mon Cala proved to be no exception, with the Mon Calamari Guard charging into the fray ahead of Prince Lee-Char.

Behind the scenes

Mon Calamari military were traditionally depicted in Star Wars Legends as using archaic weapons like lances and shields, similar to Medieval knights.
