The Moraj Memorial was a memorial near the city of Bestine on Tatooine.
History[]
It was erected by the first settlers and founders of the Bestine Township—"in memory of brave Captain Moraj".
Behind the scenes[]
This memorial was placed by the developers in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies to honor Nathan "Moraj_Markinnison" Larkins, one of the first beta testers, who had died shortly after the beta test launched due to a car crash. It was placed in the exact location where the first beta testers entered the game.
It is commonly called "Moraj Memorial" by players and fansites, although the in-game description of the memorial flag just calls it "A historical marker".
The developers also added a special guild hall with a Tatooine Skin that could be placed on any planet.
It was noted in the Guinness Book of Video Game Records to be the first MMORPG to have a virtual memorial for a deceased, real life individual. The Freeman Memorial became yet another in-game memorial for a deceased individual in November of 2008.
