"If you really must find out what that stuff is, go talk to a friend of mine. He would know more about it than I do anyway. Take this data and get out!"
Doctor Vang, to a spacer[2]

Moxxar Krieg was a male individual who lived on Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin, Krieg and Doctor Edvar Vang discovered the existence of a new kind of spice.[2] This spice was trafficked by the Rebel Alliance but was also sought by the powerful criminal organization Black Sun.[4] While Vang considered that the situation had become too dangerous, Krieg continued to look into the source of the spice. He was then detected and threatened to stop his investigation. However, Moxxar Krieg refused to do so and was finally assassinated in his house in Mos Eisley.[2] In 1 ABY,[1] a group of spacers discovered a sample of the new spice while looking for a missing pilot, Cal Handro. They brought it to Doctor Vang but the latter exhorted them to interrogate Krieg instead of him. The spacers only found the corpse of Moxxar Krieg in his house.[2]

Moxxar Krieg appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] Moxxar Krieg was added to the game with the first chapter of the "Secrets of the Syren" questline, released with the "Publish 14," on March 9, 2005.[6] The "Secrets of the Syren" story arc was removed from the game with the "Chapter 1," published on June 8, 2006, due to the major changes planed for Rori with the introduction of the Battle of Restuss.[7]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
