"Galen, you know where these came from."
"Mygeeto, perhaps."
Lyra and Galen Erso discuss the origins of a case of kyber crystals[src]

Mygeeto was a frigid, crystalline planet located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories that was the homeworld of the Lurmen species. An InterGalactic Banking Clan stronghold, it was aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. It was the site of the Third Battle of Mygeeto, and the Galactic Republic assaulted Mygeeto during the Outer Rim Sieges. During the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire, Mygeeto was the site of a battle between the Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Sixty-First Mobile Infantry. During the Galactic Civil War, the planet's Imperial forces were attacked by the Plasma Devils.

Description

Mygeeto was located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories,[1] in grid square K-5 on the Standard Galactic Grid,[2] in the same sector as the Anthan system and Son-tuul.[7] Hostile and exotic,[8] it was a frigid,[1] snow-covered planet[9] marked by jagged crystalline landscapes.[1] Kyber crystals could be found on Mygeeto.[10]

History

"To a degree. I'm more interested in what Cuata was doing on Mygeeto and Christophsis before the war placed them in danger."
―Galen Erso, to Wilhuff Tarkin[src]

The Clone Wars

Controlled by the InterGalactic Banking Clan and the Confederacy of Independent Systems,[1] Cuata did research on Mygeeto before the Clone Wars placed it in danger[10] in the year 21 BBY,[9] which led Tee Watt Kaa's tribe of Lurmen to abandon their homeworld to escape the bloodshed and violence.[11]

Third Battle of Mygeeto

Third Battle of Mygeeto

The Third Battle of Mygeeto.

In 19 BBY, during the Clone Wars, a conflict erupted on Mygeeto between the CIS and the Galactic Republic known as the Third Battle of Mygeeto. The Separatist General known as Grievous brought a group from the Separatist Droid Army to Mygeeto. He was joined by Separatist Colonel Coburn Sear, who had narrowly escaped capture by the Republic on Kardoa. Jedi General Depa Billaba, her padawan Caleb Dume and their battalion of Republic clone troopers were sent to Mygeeto to confront the Separatist presence[12]

They were ordered to clear the Southern Mesas of B1 battle droids. Clone troopers Remo, Soot, Big-Mouth, Kaylon, and Mixx each took squads of clone troopers through the mesas. Billaba and Dume then went with clone trooper CT-1157, nicknamed "Stance". Clone Commander CC-10/994, nicknamed "Grey", and Clone Captain Styles then took the rest of the men. Despite numerous battle droids, the battalion continued with their mission.[13]

Republic forces are surrounded by Separatist droids.

Soon, however, Billaba, Dume, Styles, and Stance were cut off by Separatist forces. Billaba then contacted Commander Grey, stating they needed to be evacuated. Grey informed them they would have to hold out for about four minutes, an amount of time Caleb Dume did not think they had. They were soon surrounded. However, Fang-class starfighters of Skull Squadron, lead by Skull Leader Fenn Rau were able to shoot the battle droids attacking them. The Republic forces were then evacuated by LAAT/i's.[13]

While most of the battalion was still out fighting, Billaba's team returned to their base, mesa camp 6. The cap was then suddenly attacked by Grievous, Coburn Sear and their battle droids. Stance was then killed by Sear with his electro sword. Billaba then attacked Grievous, however, she only managed to cut off the cyborg's hand before she was significantly injured with one of his lightsabers.[5]

Dume then battled Coburn Sear. During their fight, Dume managed to damage Sear's flamethrower. Sear then tried to use his flamethrower against Caleb, however, the flamethrower blew up. Sear then fell off a cliff to his death. The rest of the battalion then arrived, and Grey found Caleb crying next to Stance's corpse. The clones then fired at Grievous, who was then forced to retreat.[5]

Republic reinforcements the arrived, which included a Venator-class Star Destroyer, and the battle was over. Soon after the battle, a funeral was held for Stance.[5]

Assault on Mygeeto

UTAT Mygeeto

Unfortunately, the fighting was not over on Mygeeto. A three-year campaign, lasting from 22 BBY to 19 BBY was led by the Republic on Mygeeto, known as the Assault on Mygeeto.[14] Towards the end of the Clone Wars, Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and the 21st Nova Corps led the assault. At one point, Ki-Adi-Mundi was leading his troops, including at least two UT-AT's, across a bridge spanning two city blocks when Order 66, a contingency order that would force all clone troopers to kill their Jedi generals, was given by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. Clone marshal commander CC-1138, nicknamed "Bacara", and other clones opened fire on Ki-Adi-Mundi. The Jedi was able to deflect several shots before he was killed by his own men.[3]

Age of the Empire

After the Clone Wars, Mygeeto fell under the control of the Galactic Empire.[7] At some point before the Battle of the Tower, the Rebel Alliance's Sixty-First Mobile Infantry fought in a battle on the world.[15] During the Galactic Civil War, after the Battle of Yavin, Imperial forces on Mygeeto came under attack by the Plasma Devils,[7] a Rebel Alliance Starfighter Corps squadron.[16]

Inhabitants

Lurmen

Lurmen were native to Mygeeto

Mygeeto was the homeworld of the sentient Lurmen species,[1] who inhabited the planet's natural crystal towers before they were reduced to slave status by the Banking Clan.[6]

Behind the scenes

Originally created for the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith,[3] Mygeeto was one of the first planets envisioned for a proposed montage[17] of battlefronts and Separatist strongholds[18] that was to start Revenge of the Sith in early drafts,[17] which turned into the Order 66 sequence as the storyline evolved.[18] It was envisioned as a Banking Clan world and the technological designs of the world were inspired by the thin elegance of the Muun species. Concept art showcased "fresnel" type designs, with layered crystalline filaments suggesting old-style electronics. The first paintings by Erik Tiemens emphasized a turquoise color palette, giving it a self-illuminated brightness,[17] as well as prominent hexagonal facets that marked the planet's surface. These concepts resurfaced during the development of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and heavily inspired the look of the planet Christophsis,[18] as well as that of Mandalore.[19]
