Nabat was a city inhabited by Twi'leks on their home planet Ryloth. Around 21 BBY, during the Battle of Ryloth, the Confederacy of Independent Systems' droid army seized control of the city and took its inhabitants hostage. After its capture, the Twi'leks were used by the Confederacy as living shields to prevent a direct assault from the Galactic Republic on their J-1 proton cannons. However, despite the Confederacy's efforts, Nabat was later liberated by Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and his clone troopers from Ghost Company, which allowed the Republic to continue their mission to free Ryloth from the Confederacy.
Description[]
Located on the Outer Rim world of Ryloth, the city of Nabat was constructed within a rocky area of large forest. Many of its structures were built from rock, with multiple stretching one or two stories in height. Nabat's also possessed outer walls of stone and a large courtyard with a circular space in the center.[1]
History[]
- "We need to remember why we're here. We came to aid the Twi'leks, not destroy their home. Cody?"
"That means we'll be taking it back the hard way. Minimal destruction with blasters and droid poppers only. No rockets or detonators. Check your aim. Keep an eye out for the locals." - ―Obi-Wan and Cody prepare the men for the battle
During the Clone Wars, Nabat was conquered and occupied by the Confederacy's Droid Army[2] under TX-20. There, TX-20 set up a battery of five J-1 proton cannons in the main square.[1]
When the Republic attacked, Emir Tambor ordered TX-20 not to allow them to land on the surface. Anticipating this, TX-20 rounded up all of Nabat's survivors, except Numa, and used them as a living shield, preventing Republic forces from firing at their artillery. Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and the clone troopers of Ghost Company attempted to land despite the heavy artillery, taking six Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships down to the surface and landing in the forests outside the city, arming themselves only with blaster rifles and electromagnetic pulse grenades so as to not cause damage to the locals or the town itself. Due to the artillery, Jedi General Mace Windu and his transport ships could not land safely, leaving Ghost Company on their own to take Nabat. Only a few of the gunships made it through the artillery barrage and landed troops.[1]
After the troops fought past Separatist battle droids on the outside of the city walls, they entered Nabat only to learn that it was deserted. General Kenobi sent scouts ahead, with troopers "Boil" and "Waxer" heading to the south sector of the city while Clone Commander CC-2224 "Cody" was joined by "Wooley" to investigate the courtyard.[1]
Boil and Waxer would encounter a surviving Twi'lek, a girl named Numa, while Cody and Wooley reported in and the rest of the troops moved up and made camp inside a In the wreckage of a larger public building with rows of seating. Having learned that the Twi'leks had been rounded up in the center of town, Kenobi formulated a plan of attack.[1]
