Naga Sadow was an ancient Sith Lord who, according to the quasi-historical Qel-Droma Epics, led the Sith Empire during the Great Hyperspace War against Empress Teta and the Jedi Order while also triggering the Cron Supernova. The Massassi of Yavin 4 allegedly built the Great Temple under Sadow's leadership in circa 5000 BBY in his honor, despite his poor treatment of the Massassi.
A likeness of Sadow was chiseled into the rock walls of the Sith Citadel on the Sith planet Exegol, and First Order Supreme Leader Kylo Ren heard Sadow's voice among the unintelligible whispers of several Sith Lords while confronting the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious on Exegol in 35 ABY.
Biography[]
Sith Lord[]
Naga Sadow[2] was an ancient[3] male Sith Lord active[2] by 5000 BBY.[1] According to the quasi-historical Qel-Droma Epics series of poems, Sadow was active thousands of years before the time of Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma. During that period, as the Epics claimed, the Sith Empire conducted an invasion that began the Great Hyperspace War. Empress Teta thus allied herself with the Jedi Order and defeated Sadow's forces, scattering them across the galaxy. The Qel-Droma Epics also claimed that Naga Sadow triggered stars in the Cron Cluster to form the Cron Supernova, subsequently leaving the nearby Jedi retreat planet Ossus barren and scarred.[4]
The Great Temple on the moon Yavin 4 was alleged to have been built by Massassi warriors under Sadow's leadership around 5000 BBY. The Massassi admired Sadow as a god despite his poor treatment of them, and the Temple was raised in Sadow's honor. Archeologists later proposed that the Great Temple may have functioned as a large-scale communications device to contact other Sith Lords throughout the galaxy.[2]
Legacy[]
Naga Sadow[2] numbered among several Sith Lords whose likenesses were chiseled into the rock walls of the Sith Citadel on the hidden Sith planet of Exegol, located in the Unknown Regions.[3] Exegol also included a location named the Sadow escarpment,[5] which was named in honor of the Sith Lord.[6] When the Supreme Leader of the First Order and master of the Knights of Ren, Kylo Ren, arrived on Exegol[3] in 35 ABY[7] to confront the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, he maneuvered through the Sith Citadel and recognized from his studies the rock statues of Sadow and some of the other Sith Lords. Ren also heard their unintelligible whispers.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Naga Sadow was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the twenty-third issue of the De Agostini magazine Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon,[2] published around June 10, 2015.[8] The character Naga Sadow originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the first issue of the comic series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi - Dark Lords of the Sith, written by Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson[9] and released on October 4, 1994.[10]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 23 (Guide to the Galaxy: Yavin 4's Massassi Temple) establishes that the Great Temple on Yavin 4 was built by Massassi warriors, allegedly under the leadership of Naga Sadow, around the year 5000 BBY. Therefore, it can be deduced that Sadow was already born by that time.
