A nanoforge was a device with a transparent viewing lens-plate marked with a crosshair in the center. The plate sat atop a body that was black in color and had an orange power cell and lasing gas bottle at the base. The Jedi-in-training Rey owned a nanoforge that she kept amongst other equipment on her workbench, which was part of the Resistance base on the moon Ajan Kloss.[1]

She used the equipment on the workbench to flex her mechanical skills, study the Sacred Jedi texts, and repair the Skywalker lightsaber by healing its kyber crystal.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] the nanoforge was sat on the workbench behind Rey when she was informed that the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon had returned to base.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

A nanoforge first appeared in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[3] It was first identified in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]

  2. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary dates the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker to one year after the events of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of The Force Awakens to 34 ABY, the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which includes the appearance of the nanoforge, must occur in 35 ABY.
