In the Galactic Empire, the naval chiefs were the highest ranking officers of the various branches of the Imperial Navy.[1] At a higher level, some of them were part of the Joint Chiefs, along with chiefs of the Imperial Army.[2] At one point, Emperor Palpatine elected to meet several of his naval chiefs—three women and one man, named Tallatz, all admirals—on the starship Defiance, a mobile flight academy operated by Commandant Pell Baylo.[1]
