After the Galactic Empire came to power[2] in 19 BBY,[1] the rise of the Empire caused a swelling clan rivalry to develop on the planet Rodia. The Rodian Navik the Red chose his moment to strike in an insurection, overthrowing his rivals and capturing the capital of Rodia, Equator City.[2] In 17 BBY,[1] he declared himself Grand Protector of Rodia and changing the planet's capital from Equator City to Iskaayuma, seat of his Chattza clan.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Navik's insurrection was mentioned in "Visting Rodia," an article in the Guide to the Galaxy department published in the fifty-eighth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon series[2] that released around February 10, 2016.[3]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates the establishment of the Galactic Empire to 19 BBY. "Mustafar and Other Planets in the Outer Rim" — Star Wars Encyclopedia states that Navik became Grand Protector in 17 BBY. As Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 58 Guide to the Galaxy: Visiting Rodia establishes that the insurrection takes place during the rise of the Empire and ends with Navik becoming Grand Protector, it must take place between these two dates.
