Nen was the star of the Neimoidia system, a part of the regions known as the Colonies[1] and the Slice.[2] It was orbited by the planet Neimoidia and its sole moon. Situated along the Trellen Trade Route,[1] Nen sat at grid square N-10 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[3]

Nen was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the fifty-second issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[1] published around December 30, 2015.[4] The image used to depict Nen was also used in Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon to illustrate several other stars.[5][6][7]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Nen was introduced via an indirect mention in Cloak of Deception, a 2001 novel authored by James Luceno.[8] It was later identified in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book authored by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.[9]
