"I am Nenavakasa Nalor, but my friends call me Nena."
―Nalor introduces herself to Neeku Vozo[1]

Nenavakasa Nalor, nicknamed Nena, was a clever female computer engineer. A Nikto who had been abducted by pirates and enslaved by a Hutt clan as a child, Nalor escaped her homeworld and worked as a contractor using her own starship for the First Order; Nalor believed the Order had won the war against the Resistance, and in 34 ABY, she was hired to sabotage the Colossus refueling station. Nalor befriended the fellow Nikto engineer Neeku Vozo while working with him there, ostensibly to repair the station but secretly sabotaging its control systems. The pair formed a rapport as they worked together.

Nena Nalor blamed the Colossus' problems on the pirate gang aboard, but her plot was foiled by Vozo's best friend and Resistance member, Kazuda Xiono, and his pirate friend Synara San. After alerting the First Order, the saboteur fled the Colossus, wishing to bring Vozo along as her partner. However, Vozo insisted on remaining with his friends, and Nalor was paid by the First Order for incapacitating the station as she departed. Nevertheless, Vozo and Xiono undid Nalor's work and the Colossus escaped from the Order, which resolved to kill Nalor should they meet again.

Biography[]

Unpleasant work[]

"When I was a little girl…pirates captured me. They sold me to a Hutt clan. I… worked as a slave for years until I finally escaped."
―Nenavakasa Nalor, to Neeku Vozo[1]
NenaCockpitInterior-TheEngineer

After escaping from enslavement, Nena Nalor piloted her own ship and worked for the First Order during its conquest of the galaxy.

As a Nikto child, Nenavakasa Nalor was abducted by pirates and then sold to a Hutt clan. Enslaved as a worker for years, Nalor[1] bravely[3] escaped the Hutts and left her homeworld to become a contractor for the First Order with her own starship.[1] As a young[2] computer engineer during the First Order-Resistance War,[1] in 34 ABY,[4] Nalor was hired by the First Order to sabotage the mobile refueling station Colossus, which had been eluding First Order capture even as its rule expanded across the galaxy. The saboteur plot was concocted by the First Order Agent Tierny despite the misgivings of her colleague Commander Pyre, and Nalor spent days tracking the Colossus with her starship.[1]

Some rescue?[]

Doza: "Looks like we encountered your distress call just in time."
Nalor: "You can say that again. My thrusters got fried in the attack, so I had to re-route all power to life supply just to survive. If you hadn't found me—"
Vozo: "Excuse me. Oh, hi. Excuse me. Excuse me."
―Captain Doza and Nena Nalor converse, interrupted by Neeku Vozo's repair efforts — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

Nalor sent a holographic distress call from her ship while wearing her flight helmet. She claimed to have escaped a First Order attack that left her vessel's life support oxygen levels very low and transmitted her coordinates, near a purple-colored nebula. The Nikto's call was received on the Colossus' bridge by two mechanics—the human Resistance member Kazuda Xiono and[1] the Kadas'sa'Nikto[5] Neeku Vozo, who had just repaired the station's long-range sensors—in the presence of the station captain, Imanuel Doza, and the Colossus Ace Squadron's leader, Jarek Yeager. Although Xiono and Vozo advocated for a rescue, reasoning that their isolated location in space significantly decreased the chances of another passing ship, Yeager suspected a trap and insisted that Vozo remain to effect repairs while Xiono was to be accompanied by a person who could properly wield a blaster.[1]

Nalor is found by Kazuda Xiono and Synara San.

Having brought the astromech droid CB-23 and his Mirialan pirate friend Synara San on his rescue mission, Xiono flew a Star Commuter 2000 shuttle to their rescuee's lightless ship, which extended a docking tube to connect to Xiono's ship as it eased alongside the craft. CB-23 confirmed that the ship had only one lifeform aboard, and a colorless gas expanded from it as the docking tube unsealed; Nalor walked into the shuttle while fruitlessly waving the gas away with her right arm and coughing into her left hand, and she was greeted by Xiono. Nalor exchanged the "hello" and thanked him for the rescue before realizing that he and Synara San were pointing their blasters at her, prompting the Nikto to ask if they were rescuing her or if they were pirates.[1]

Xiono replied that his companion was technically a pirate, causing Nalor to back away, put up both of her arms, and suggest that she should return to her ship, but the human quickly added that she was indeed being rescued and lowered his and San's blasters. Asked by Xiono about what happened, Nalor leaned against a wall and hugged herself, responding that the First Order was omnipresent, with entire worlds surrendering, and she had barely escaped her world. San then holstered her weapon and stated that Nalor was fortunate before questioning her business in that part of space, to which Nalor claimed ignorance of her location and added that she was simply a computer engineer "with a fried computer" as she gestured at her ship. Xiono therefore invited her to the Colossus, explaining that it had been damaged by the First Order as well and that their mechanic was swamped with work.[1]

Quick fixes[]

"The garbage vaporizer is now working."
"Ah, finally, we can breathe. You two drink for free."
―Neeku Vozo and Aunt Z, who thanks Vozo and Nena Nalor for their repairs[1]
ColossusSabotage

Nalor built a quick rapport with the Colossus' mechanic, the fellow Nikto Neeku Vozo.

Nalor agreed with Xiono's proposal to have her ship fixed in return for her assistance with the station's repairs. On the Colossus' bridge, Xiono introduced Nalor to Captain Doza and Yeager, mentioning that her ship, like theirs, had been damaged by the First Order. Doza expressed[1] his[2] sympathies, and Nalor continued lying that her thrusters had been destroyed and was forced to rely on life support for survival, but she was interrupted by Neeku Vozo rushing from one console to another, eagerly attempting repairs and sparing only a moment to acknowledge the station's new arrival. Nalor thus remarked that the "old" station indeed needed some attention and subsequently leaned toward Vozo, who was kneeling beside a console in front of her, to suggest that he adjust the K-spline to soft-reset the computer system. Vozo took her advice, which worked with immediate effect.[1]

Yeager commented on Nalor's skills as a mechanic, but she specified that she was an engineer. Vozo and Nalor then made introductions, and Captain Doza asked her to help with maintaining the station; Nalor said that the crew had been very kind to her and accepted, much to Vozo's satisfaction, who led her down to the Colossus Engineering Level.[1]

NeekuNenaKazTorra

Vozo, Nalor, and Xiono made repairs throughout the Colossus.

As Xiono followed the pair holding a box of tools and watched on alongside the Chelidae engineers, Vozo and Nalor discussed a fault with the Engineering Level's power supply. Although Vozo's replacement of micro-cables there was ineffective, Nalor adjusted the supply levels at a power junction by manipulating several console controls and successfully restored a fan overhead, to Vozo's compliment. She also used a wrench under the Colossus hyperdrive chamber's control table to fix the hyperdrive, which impressed Vozo and Xiono. Later, she mended the hologram display in the Aces' Lounge with a hydrospanner to the cheers of Vozo and Ace Squadron pilots.[1]

Afterward, Nalor operated the datapad that Vozo had been previously holding, while the latter pushed a button by the blast door at which the janitor Opeepit had been waiting. Immediately as the door opened, Opeepit excitedly retrieved a floor sweeper to continue cleaning the Colossus' corridors, and Vozo was happy that the rate of progress meant that the Colossus' issues would all be over soon. Similarly, Nalor held the datapad as Vozo fixed the garbage vaporizer in Aunt Z's Tavern with a hammer. A content Z'Vk'Thkrkza "Aunt Z," ignoring Xiono standing beside them, told the two Nikto that they could drink at[1] her[2] establishment for free.[1]

Pirates' insolence[]

"You can never trust a pirate. They're always out for themselves."
―Nena Nalor, telling Neeku Vozo that the pirates were stealing the station's power[1]
NenaNeekuBrawl-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor and Neeku Vozo amidst a brawl between the Colossus' pirates

As they continued walking through the station, Vozo sensed Nalor's unease and asked for the reason: she told him that she was concerned by the large amount of pirates on the Colossus. Immediately, they were surrounded by the Warbird gang of pirates, among them the Hassk Snarl, the Gamorrean Gork, the Kassk Vusk, and the Trandoshan Skreek. Snarl wrapped an arm around Vozo and requested that the engineers help them at their hangar. Although Nalor attempted to leave by telling Vozo to take their request while she work on her datapad's list of required fixes, Gork nudged and growled at her. Despite the threat, Vozo assured his new friend that their work would not take too much time and agreed to help his "pirate friends."[1]

The pirates brought the engineers to their lair, where other pirates spectated a fight between Leoz and a Kassk pirate. Leoz punched the latter into Vusk, just in front of Nalor, who was taken aback only to be shoved by Gork behind her. Off-balance, she grabbed Vozo's arm beside her while the brawl continued between the pirates, including Vusk, Vusk's unwitting opponent, Skreek, and Gork. As Vozo attempted to assure Nalor that the pirates had aided the Colossus fight the First Order, she realized that she was grabbing Vozo and let go of him while casting her gaze around the room, telling Vozo that she hoped he was right about the pirates' goodwill.[1]

At the consoles beside the sail barge[1] Galleon,[4] Snarl explained to the engineers that the pirates had trouble routing power to their ships before walking away. Nalor then showed Vozo an analysis on her datapad that the pirates were draining half of the station's power into the Galleon, asserting that one could never trust a pirate due to their selfishness. Warbird gang's leader, Kragan Gorr, overheard Nalor and confronted her for insulting[1] him[2] and his crew, ignoring Vozo's plea that she was simply reporting her findings.[1]

Blame[]

"These facts don't lie, and neither does that."
―Nalor, presenting the pirates her datapad and pointing at a power irregularity[1]
NenaPirates-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor accuses the pirates of stealing the station's power.

However, Nalor was adamant that the pirates were siphoning the Colossus' power, presenting Gorr her datapad and, when a power irregularity briefly made a rumble and interrupted the hangar's light supply, she pointed at the hangar ceiling to emphasize her point. Gorr likewise insisted that Nalor's data was wrong and threatened the engineer, whom he called a "girl" and a "child," but she was unfazed when he pushed away her arm that held her datapad and handed the device to Vozo, resting her hands on her waist and challenging the pirate leader to fulfill his threat of reprimanding her.[1]

A discomforted Vozo attempted to defuse the potentially violent situation, suggesting that everyone were friends and fellow Platformers, yet Nalor declared the pirates to be selfish thieves who failed to share such notion. Gorr again rejected her claim that the pirates were stealing the station's power and said that they did not even have a fair share of energy, but the confrontation was interrupted by a power outage in the hangar, at which point Nalor persuaded Vozo to leave together. The pirates followed them with calls for the "cowards" to run, although Synara San, who had just entered the scene, observed quietly.[1]

Secrets kept and told[]

"Neeku, that K-spline I had you install, it doesn't do what you think it does."
"What are you talking about? You have fixed the ship."
"But I didn't come here to fix things."
"Well, then you are doing a terrible job." [laughs]
―Nena Nalor and Neeku Vozo[1]
NenaColossusBridge-TheEngineer

Nalor reports to the Colossus' command crew that they were being tricked by pirates.

The Nikto returned to the bridge of the Colossus, where Nalor explained to Captain Doza, Yeager, Xiono, and CB-23 her suspicion that the pirates were stealing the station's power. Although Doza wanted the pirates to be removed, Yeager was wary that they would violently resist, and Xiono volunteered to investigate the matter and cut off the gang's power supply while the engineers ensure that the theft would not reoccur. The captain agreed to the plan, and at nighttime, Xiono and CB-23 found that the pirates had large cables extending from a power port in the hanger, with the human thinking that it confirmed Nalor's suspicion. However, he was caught in the act by Synara San before he could pull the plug.[1]

Meanwhile, Nalor and Vozo installed regulators in service tunnel A2, ostensibly intended to prevent power theft. When Vozo mentioned that it was nice to work as a team, Nalor asked him why he was living aboard the mobile station and inquired if he had family there. Vozo revealed that his parents were bantha herders who did not understand his interest in machines but nevertheless sold their most prized calf to fund his pursuit of engineering as a career. Vozo then realized that he had not spoken of himself for a long time, so Nalor asked if his friends never asked him; ever fond of Kazuda Xiono, Vozo replied that the latter liked to speak about his experiences with[1] the New Republic Academy[6] and the Resistance, such as personally meeting General Leia Organa, and Nalor countered that Xiono simply enjoyed talking.[1]

NenaNeekuServiceTunnel-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor and Neeku Vozo learned more about each other while working in a service tunnel.

After Nalor powered up the machinery before them, Vozo asked about her childhood. She somberly recounted that she had been captured by pirates and sold into slavery, laboring for years until she escaped. Vozo empathized with his counterpart, recognizing her dislike of pirates, and both of them looked away from each other for a moment. Nalor then admitted that the K-spline she asked Vozo to install would not fix the Colossus as he had been led to believe. Despite Nalor's attempt to explain, Vozo joked that she must be doing a terrible job if she was not intending to repair the station and eagerly prompted her to help complete adjusting the machinery. Nalor quietly agreed with an expression of regret. The pair later moved to the Engineering Level.[1]

Truth to power losses[]

"Neeku, I don't know how to put this gently, but Nena's working for the First Order."
"Oh, Kaz. I see what you are doing."
"What am I doing?"
"You are worried that you are no longer my best friend and that Nena is my new best friend. But I want to assure you that even though Nena is a vastly superior engineer, you are still my best friend, Kaz, and therefore do not need to make up such stories."
―Kazuda Xiono and Neeku Vozo, speaking in Nalor's absence[1]
KazSynaraSleuthing-TheEngineer

Kazuda Xiono and Synara San discovered that Nalor had been tracking the Colossus for the First Order aboard her ship.

After preventing Xiono from cutting off the pirates' power, San pointed out that she herself placed the power couplings in question and that the power readouts Nalor had presented must therefore be wrong. She deduced that Neeku Vozo's new friend was fiddling with the station's power; if Nalor was such a proficient engineer, then she should have fixed her own ship. Xiono, who admitted that he knew little to nothing about their new guest; San; and CB-23 thus searched Nalor's ship, which was held in a small hangar bay of the Colossus. San's suspicions were confirmed by the encryption of Nalor's flight data and, once decrypted by her, the ship's tracking report of the Colossus. Not only did Xiono and San find that Nalor had been tracking the station for days, but they also discovered that she was tracking them for the First Order.[1]

NenaNeekuEngineeringLevel-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor and Neeku Vozo relax in the Engineering Level, where Xiono would find them.

While San stayed at the ship to secure it from Nalor and prevent her from contacting the First Order, Xiono tried to warn the rest of the Colossus' crew about Nalor's secret. As Xiono and CB-23 rushed through the Colossus' corridors, the droid made a series of noises, and in reply, Xiono expressed his appreciation that Vozo "really" liked Nalor. The human also said that it would be very difficult to convince Vozo of something that contradicted his mindset. Xiono alone barged into the Engineering Level to find Nalor and Vozo sharing a laugh, with Nalor sitting on the consoles while Vozo sat with his knees on the floor, greeting Xiono by telling him that they had fixed the lights. Nalor also waved at Xiono, who asked to speak with his friend privately and dodged Nalor's question about the pirate situation by saying it went "great."[1]

Nalor then watched as Xiono pulled Vozo in behind an aisle of machinery some distance away before she fled the room with the others unaware, while Xiono revealed to Vozo that she worked for the First Order. A sympathetic Vozo believed that Xiono was making up a story out of concern about his budding friendship with "a vastly superior engineer" and assured Xiono that he remained his best friend. Xiono insisted that he was not lying about Nalor's sabotage, but when a power outage suddenly eliminated the room's overhead lighting, they turned to find her missing. Xiono chased after the spy, although Vozo dismissed the supposed proof of Nalor's subterfuge as his best friend's "clever ruse."[1]

Faster than sabotage[]

Nalor: "Don't bother warning anyone. You have no power, no thrusters, and no defenses. The First Order is on their way as we speak."
Xiono: "Is this what you do, sabotage ships and leave them at the mercy of the First Order?"
Nalor: "I'm surprised you figured it out so quickly."
Vozo: "Then it is as Kaz said. You lied to me, Nena…about everything."
Nalor: "Not everything. I was enslaved by pirates as a child."
―Nenavakasa Nalor, revealing the truth to Kazuda Xiono and Neeku Vozo[1]
NenaBlaster-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor revealed that she had deactivated the Colossus' defenses, believing that working for the First Order was the smart choice.

As Nalor ran through the Colossus' corridors, she remotely activated her ship with her datapad and sent her coordinates to her First Order contact. The act prompted San to exit the ship, which received the First Order's request to prepare for their arrival. Despite Vozo's pleas for her to "refrain from running," Nalor turned a corner in the corridors and waited for Xiono to follow suit and shot at him with her blaster pistol, causing Vozo to scream. While Xiono dodged the shots and retreated around the corner alongside his friend, Nalor continued firing and boasted that warning the others would be futile, given that she had restricted the Colossus' power and shut off its thrusters and defenses for the First Order's arrival.[1]

Xiono questioned if her job was to sabotage ships for the First Order, to which Nalor replied that she was surprised by his quickness in piecing together her intentions. Vozo then appeard around the corner and stated that she had lied to him about everything—Nalor put down her blaster and clarified that she indeed had been enslaved by pirates as a child—and she insisted that her actions were necessary for survival. She rejected Vozo's request that she stay with the Colossus and help with its denizens' survival given her smarts and skills, persisting in her belief that she must side with the rising First Order, and continued firing at Xiono as he re-entered the corridor and approached her before running away again.[1]

NenaRunning-TheEngineer

After failing to convince Vozo to join her, Nalor runs away despite his pleas.

However, she soon stopped and turned back to a pleading Vozo, stating that the Resistance had lost the war and asking him to join her. Despite their mutual affection, Vozo chose to stay with his friends aboard the Colossus. As the pair contemplated, CB-23 snatched Nalor's blaster from behind her, and the spy angrily said that Vozo had tricked her before leaping over the droid and speeding away. As the Nikto operated her datapad while running into her hangar, San ambushed her, knocking away her datapad and striking at Nalor. The spy tackled San to the ground and boarded her ship despite being harried by blaster fire from her pursuer. As Nalor backed her ship out of the bay, she watched from the cockpit San firing futilely at her craft while Xiono and Vozo stood nearby, with the latter Nikto helplessly calling for the name Nena.[1]

Repercussions[]

"Commander Pyre, the Colossus is defenseless. My work here is done."
"Your account has been credited. Excellent work, engineer."
―Nalor and First Order Commander Pyre, via hologram[1]
NenaPyre

Nalor contacts Commander Pyre via hologram.

Overseen by Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre, the First Order Star Destroyer[1] Thunderer[4] had found the Colossus and deployed eight TIE fighters to engage the wayward station. Nalor piloted her ship past the starfighters toward the Star Destroyer, contacting Commander Pyre via hologram about having fulfilled her contract of lowering the Colossus' defenses. Pyre thus commended her action and rewarded her in credits. After ending the transmission, the engineer privately lamented her betrayal of Neeku Vozo and hoped that he would understand her words before entering hyperspace.[1]

With the station having its key systems inoperative and at risk of being destroyed by the Order, Captain Doza contacted Xiono via comlink, and Xiono reported that Nalor had sabotaged their home. Xiono then asked Vozo of a way to handle the problem. The Nikto realized that his former engineer counterpart had "fixed" the station by re-routing and draining its power, and Vozo worked at the console of the bridge—while directing Xiono to remove the regulators in service tunnel A2 and the Engineering Level and then fix the plasma cable—to divert power to communications, turbine, shielding, and laser turret systems.[1]

NenaHyperspace-TheEngineer

Nalor leaves the scene after receiving her payment.

Finally, Vozo asked Xiono to have the pirates' power source shut down, which they did after the human apologized to Gorr and his gang for the previous accusations spearheaded by Nalor. When the Colossus' systems were not fully restored, Vozo realized that it was due to the K-spline Nalor had initially suggested inserting; after the component's removal, the engineer's sabotage was completely undone, and the command droid 4D-M1N piloted the station into hyperspace.[1]

Displeased that Pyre's doubts about the saboteur's effectiveness had come true, Agent Tierny ordered that their "asset" be executed should the First Order encounter her again, to which the commander expressed pleasure in agreement. On the Colossus, Xiono expressed his sympathies regarding Nalor for Vozo, who suggested that he himself was too trusting and open with others, but his friend refuted the notion, stating that those traits made Vozo a good person. The Nikto thus affirmed that Xiono had become his "bestest friend."[1]

Personality and traits[]

"And I learned to do whatever it takes to survive."
"But that is what we are doing, surviving. Stay and help us. You are smart and capable and—"
"Smart enough to be on the winning side."
―Nalor and Vozo, confronting each other after the revelation that she was a First Order agent[1]
EngineersSayHi-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor and Neeku Vozo grew close to each other in their brief time on the Colossus.

Nenavakasa Nalor was a clever female computer engineer[2] who had dark blue eyes with white highlights and blue-green skin, accompanied by yellow horns. The Nikto had a traumatic childhood due to her abduction by pirates and subsequent enslavement and forced labor and later chose to work for the First Order as its control spread across the galaxy. She gave her full name when introducing herself to Neeku Vozo, but specified that her friends called her Nena; the engineer was also known to the Order as Nena. She maintained a positive façade to the crew of the Colossus even while lying to them in conversation and sabotaging their station.[1]

The First Order spy attempted to conceal her sabotage by inciting conflict between Captain Doza and his allies and the Warbird gang, whom she boldly accused of power theft and was confident to confront by herself even within their hangar due to her grudge against pirates. Before Nalor falsified the data that implicated the pirates of theft, she wore a concerned expression when near the rowdy pirates, occasionally crossing her arms when speaking with others, and she briefly grabbed Vozo's arm beside her when they were caught in a brawl.[1]

NenaFlyingAway-TheEngineer

After her sabotage, Nalor had to leave Vozo, for whom she felt sorry.

Nalor built a quick rapport with the especially enthusiastic and trusting Vozo as they addressed engineering issues throughout the Colossus as a team, and they discussed each other's pasts. Nalor considered him to be "different," wishing that he join her in leaving the Colossus despite her never having wanted a partner before. Indeed, whilst she was quick to shoot at Kazuda Xiono after he exposed her intentions but lowered her blaster when facing Vozo, she angrily accused her fellow engineer of tricking her as his friends attempted to block her escape; Nalor was privately remorseful of having to leave Vozo afterward.[1]

Skills and abilities[]

"Impressive!"
―Neeku Vozo, on Nalor's engineering skills[1]

To the awe of the Colossus' mechanic Neeku Vozo, Nalor proficiently identified ways of repairing the station that Vozo missed and successfully restored the function of many key systems using tools such as the hydrospanner and wrench; in secret, the engineer simultaneously sabotaged the station's control systems. She also falsified data on a datapad to indicate that the pirates on the Colossus were stealing its power. Nalor was capable at firing her blaster, obstructing Kazuda Xiono from chasing her, and at hand-to-hand combat against Synara San to flee to her own ship, which Nalor piloted herself.[1]

Equipment[]

"It looks like she's trying to hide something. All of her flight data is encrypted."
"That's strange."
"Not if you're trying to hide something."
―Synara San and Kazuda Xiono, inspecting Nalor's ship[1]
NenaCockpitExterior-TheEngineer

Nena Nalor was a computer engineer who flew her own starship.

Wearing a brown utility belt with a gray clasp and two pockets on either side, Nena Nalor was in a tan jumpsuit with beige and dark beige tones, a shoulder pocket on each sleeve, and kneepads that were tucked into her pair of dark beige boots with dark brown accents. She also donned dark brown gloves that revealed her finger tips, which allowed her to operate her personal datapad and the repair tools on the Colossus. A dark gray layer of the jumpsuit formed a collar around the Nikto's neck, over which she wore a flight helmet as a pilot.[1]

Nalor wielded a worn blaster pistol[7] that fired red bolts and flew a starship with worn gray and yellow exterior markings.[1] The ship included a common room with a chair and two bunks, although the top bunk was occupied by various crates and cargo items.[8] The flight data of Nalor's ship was encrypted, hiding her tracking system's targeting of the Colossus and her link with the First Order. The pilot had a credit account that the Order paid into upon her fulfillment of their contracts.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

"There are so many warm, fuzzy things that I feel about Resistance and this is maybe number one because getting to work together is so special and getting to work together on Star Wars was like mind-blowingly special."
―Josh Brener, on working with his wife, Meghan Falcone, who voiced Nenavakasa Nalor[9]

Nenavakasa Nalor first appeared in "The Engineer,"[1] the fifth episode of the Star Wars Resistance animated television series' second season.[10] The episode provided the character's full name[1] and premiered on November 3, 2019,[10] after Nalor was shown, unnamed, in the August 14 season two trailer on the official Star Wars YouTube channel.[11] A character design of her made by Lucasfilm artist JP Balmet was dated to January 30, 2018. Nalor is voiced by Meghan Falcone, whose husband is Neeku Vozo's voice actor, Josh Brener.[12] Brener said that working with his wife for "The Engineer" was perhaps his most treasured moment in Star Wars Resistance and loved her performance, recounting Nalor's traumatic experience with pirates.[9]

NenaConcept

Concept design of Nena Nalor by JP Balmet

An earlier cut of the episode has Vozo accompany Kazuda Xiono and Synara San to Nalor's ship, where Vozo becomes dumbstruck upon seeing her;[12] Josh Brener recalls that a part of the scene features Vozo recounting his early life and family before he moved to the Colossus, including how his parents initially did not understand Vozo's passion with going to engineering school but were nevertheless supportive of him due to his enthusiasm. After working on the episode, Meghan Falcone and Josh Brener pitched several storylines in which Nenavakasa Nalor would return.[9]

Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, posted an image on February 25, 2023 to social media of categorizing Nikto subspecies that includes a note for Nenavakasa Nalor: "Maybe we say she's a Numol'elrul."[13] The Numol'elrul exists in the Star Wars Legends continuity as a Nikto subspecies with green and blue-green scales, having been introduced in Fantasy Flight Games' 2015 supplement to the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game, Lords of Nal Hutta.[14]
